Monday, 7 November 2016 – RedSocks Security, a Cyber Security solution provider specializing in malware threat detection, announced the appointment of a new advisory board member, David Finn. Until early 2016, Finn was Chief and Executive Director of Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit, which included oversight of the Cybercrime Center at Microsoft HQ in Redmond, Washington
Heading Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit for 4 years and leading a team of more than 150 people around the world, Finn helped transform the position of Microsoft in combating malicious threats and cybercrime globally. He built partnerships with various international law enforcement agencies – including the FBI, Europol, and Interpol – and testified before the United States Senate on cyber scams. As a public spokesman for the company, he worked to increase awareness of the existence of cyber threats and explain Microsoft’s approach to fighting cybercrime in the media.
David Finn is currently Chief Operating Officer of AppEsteem, a Seattle based cybersecurity company started with former cybercrime-fighting colleagues at Microsoft, which is focused on combating fraud, deception, and malware in the software downloading industry.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Finn worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted federal crimes in one of the busiest criminal law jurisdictions in the United States. He has also worked as an associate attorney at the law firm of Davis Polk and Wardwell in Washington D.C.
Mr. Finn obtained a Graduate Law Degree (Cum Laude) from Harvard University Law School and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Harvard University (Magna Cum Laude).
David Finn’s role as advisory board member of RedSocks Security B.V. is to support the organization in realizing its global and US expansion and will play a key role in the daily representation of RedSocks Security worldwide.
